Keeping your battery strong and healthy is an important part of standardĀ JeepĀ® service. But what do you do if your battery dies? Here are some tips for jump-starting your vehicle and getting back on the road.
There are two main methods to jump-starting your Jeep battery: you can jump it from another car or from a charged battery pack. Either way, be careful! Jump starting is a great skill to have, but it can be dangerous if not done correctly.
The first step is to locate and untangle your jumper cables. Second, connect the cables:
Then, start the working car or battery pack, followed by starting the dead car. It should fire right up! Be sure to let it run for at least five or 10 minutes. You should be good to go for a while ā but youāll probably need to replace that battery soon.
If youāre not confident in jump-starting your vehicle on your own, just contact your localĀ Jeep dealership. Weāre happy to walk you through the process!
Jeep batteries generally last between three and five years. To keep that battery strong, make sure you donāt leave any lights on while the car is off. Extreme temperatures can also drain a battery, so if you live in a particularly hot or cold climate, make sure you drive your Jeep at least a few times a week to recharge the battery.
Of course, the best way to prevent your Jeep battery from dying is to keep up with routine and preventative maintenance. Fresno Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM can help!
